Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a play, not a musical, and it is long on purpose. Two parts in some cities, one in others. Magic tricks that are actually stagecraft. If you want the movies, stay home.

Partial-view and rear-mezzanine seats are real — the map for that theater is the source of truth. Matinee and evening inventories do not swap. Related city hubs: New York, London, Chicago.

A West End event that became a Broadway event and then a touring machine. The story is the next generation. The spectacle is the reason people who are 'done with Harry Potter' still go. Check whether your date is Part 1, Part 2, or the one-part version. Harry Potter and The Cursed Child keeps coming back because a certain kind of crowd already knows the ending and still wants to sit in it. Leads turn. The title does not. Buy this building on this date, not a memory of someone else's Playbill.

A pit orchestra (or a band onstage), a belt, a cue people came to photograph. Orchestra seats are faces. Front mezzanine is often the better picture of the whole stage. Rear balcony still hears it. Limited-view exists in older houses — read the map. No singing required. Tricks, lighting, a lot of stairs. Orchestra is faces. Mezzanine sees the illusions. Read the runtime. This is not a 90-minute tourist show.

The list runs through Dec 8 (New York), 74 dates so far. A Delta Hall at the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater ticket is good for that date only, so pick the exact night.
